As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for developing analytical solutions (data warehouses and data marts) using the Kimball methodology, based on the Microsoft BI stack (SSIS / SSAS) and Azure Databricks (Delta Lake, Python, Apache Spark).
Context:
You will join the central Data Office, the cornerstone of all data-related activities within the organisation. The Data Office consists of multi-disciplinary agile teams including data engineers, reporting experts, data functional analysts, project managers, data architects, data quality experts, and AI specialists.
The Data Engineer works within an agile Scrum team, in close collaboration with the Project Leader, Data Functional Analyst, and Data Architect throughout the project lifecycle.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain BI solutions (data ingestion, data warehouse, data marts) in line with established standards and functional/non-functional requirements (performance, data volume), in collaboration with the Technical Lead and Data Architects
- Test analytical solutions, troubleshoot issues, ensure maintenance, and produce adequate technical documentation
- Create visualisations and reports using Power BI and/or SSRS
- Conduct prototype reviews, demos, and provide training on data models to business users
- Work closely with the Project Leader to ensure effective delivery using an agile and pragmatic approach
Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer with the Microsoft BI stack
- (Visual Studio, SSIS, SSAS, SSMS, SSRS, Power BI, SQL Server) and Delta Lake
- Minimum 2 years of experience with Azure Databricks and Python
- Very good knowledge of Python, pandas, and Apache Spark
- Solid experience in data warehouse design (Kimball dimensional modelling)
- Experience working in an agile project environment is a plus
