2. Job Description

As a Security Engineer, you are jointly responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and continuously improving the organization’s security solutions, with a strong focus on the Microsoft Security stack.

You work closely with IT colleagues, the CISO, and external partners to identify, mitigate, and structurally address security risks across the IT landscape. The role combines hands-on security operations, incident response, governance follow-up, and advisory responsibilities.

3. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize Microsoft Security components (Defender suite, Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, PIM) and follow up on alerts, incidents, and vulnerabilities
  • Participate actively in incident response and threat management, assessing risks and implementing improvements
  • Monitor compliance metrics (Secure Score, device compliance, asset inventory, lifecycle management) and ensure proper documentation of policies and procedures
  • Promote security governance, advise stakeholders, and ensure alignment with internal policies and industry standards
  • Monitor developments within the Microsoft ecosystem and translate them into security improvements

4. Profile & Competencies

Must-Have

  • Strong experience in ICT and cybersecurity, with deep expertise in the Microsoft Security stack
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Defender (Endpoint, Cloud, Identity) and Entra ID security configurations
  • Proven experience in incident response, vulnerability management, and security operations
  • Strong knowledge of security methodologies and frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO 27001)
  • Professional proficiency in Dutch and English

Nice-to-Have

  • Cybersecurity certifications (e.g., Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator, Azure Security Engineer, Cybersecurity Architect Expert)
  • Knowledge of NIS2 compliance requirements
  • Experience with Active Directory / ADFS, MECM, Intune
  • Experience with Azure, VMware, Fortinet, and Cisco environments
