FinOps Consultant

An organization is seeking an independent Emergency FinOps Consultant to conduct a rapid assessment of its FinOps practice within an Azure cloud environment.

The objective is to address critical gaps impacting budget control, cloud cost governance, and operational efficiency. This is a short, high-impact engagement focused on diagnosis, quantification, and actionable recommendations.

2. Job Description

As a Senior FinOps Consultant, you will perform a time-boxed emergency assessment of the current FinOps setup and define concrete remediation actions.

You will analyze governance, cost structures, tooling, and financial practices, quantify missed savings opportunities, and deliver a pragmatic roadmap to improve Azure cost control and FinOps maturity.

This is an independent consulting assignment with a strong focus on impact and measurable results.

3. Key Responsibilities

• Assess the current FinOps practice, including governance, processes, documentation, accountability, and reporting
• Identify, quantify, and calculate missed savings opportunities and cloud waste within Azure
• Perform a FinOps maturity assessment and evaluate the effectiveness of existing FinOps resources
• Establish an updated Azure cost baseline and provide clear financial analysis
• Deliver a pragmatic implementation roadmap with short-term remediation actions and long-term structural improvements

4. Profile & Competencies

Must-Have

• Proven hands-on experience in FinOps within Azure environments
• Strong expertise in Azure Cost Management and cloud cost optimization
• Solid experience in cost baseline definition and financial quantification
• Strong financial analysis, reporting, and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently in a rapid, time-boxed consulting engagement (max. 20 days)

Nice-to-Have

• Experience conducting FinOps maturity assessments
• Experience facilitating stakeholder workshops and executive decision sessions
• Background in large-scale or complex cloud environments
• Experience delivering high-impact short consulting assignments
