In this article, we'll walk you through the steps for resigning professionally and writing an effective resignation letter that leaves a positive impression on your employer.


    1. Preparing for Your Resignation

    Before you resign, it's crucial to plan your exit carefully. Start by drafting a resignation letter that formally notifies your employer of your decision to leave. This letter serves as an official document that will be archived, so it should be respectful, professional, and concise.


    Key elements to include in your resignation letter:

    - Date: The date when you are submitting the letter.


    - Recipient: Address it to your immediate supervisor or manager.


    - Clear statement of resignation: Explicitly mention that you are resigning from your position.


    - Notice period: Specify the start and end date of your notice period.


    - Gratitude: Express appreciation for the opportunities you had.

    Your notice period is determined by your length of service, as shown below:

    Less than 3 months: 1 week

    2 to 4 years: 6 weeks


    4 to 5 years: 7 weeks


    5 to 6 years: 9 weeks


    Over 8 years: 13 weeks
